Adult Choir
The adult choir has a vital role in our liturgical celebrations and is a blessing to our community. The role of our choir is one of leadership and enhancement. By a blending of many talents the choir provides inspiration, beauty, and unity to the liturgy. There are also opportunities for participation in deanery and diocesan-wide liturgies, concerts, and workshops. The choir practices September through May, Thursday evenings, 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in the school music room. The choir sings two to three times each month for either Saturday or Sunday Mass.
Youth Choir
Young parishioners (grades 2 through 8) are encouraged to participate in the Youth Choir. It is vital that the children become part of our liturgy and are excited about doing so. Rehearsals are in conjunction with Religious Ed on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 to 7:30 p.m.
Cantor
The cantors provide a valuable contribution and are vital to the music ministry. Cantors act as song leaders, psalmist and animator of the assembly at worship. Reasonable musical talent is needed. We encourage youth as well as adults. Cantors are needed year-round and are scheduled 1-2 Masses per month. There will be individual on-going rehearsal with the music director, and opportunities for skills workshops as well as spiritual formation.
Instrumental
The use of a variety of instruments is encouraged and can add great beauty to our liturgical music. Instrumentalists are needed as accompaniment with choir and assembly music, as well as special “solo” music at various times. These include: guitar, flute, clarinet, oboe, saxophone, violin, cello, trumpet, French horn, and trombone. In addition, percussion (rhythm) players (tambourine, drums, maracas, etc.) are always needed. Rehearsal is arranged with the music director as needed. Season: Year-round, as needed and when available.
